A symbol of perseverance

the hill

A San Rafael woman hauls firewood up the hill.

It is gratifying and amazing to see how age does not prevent the people of San Rafael from walking long distances in search of resources, despite a sunny day, to meet their goals. That is what strengthens us each day and helps us understand the dynamics of the population we serve, while at the same time admiring them for their dedication.

Look at this photograph: this path in the community is identified as the hill—it is a big climb. Even without carrying anything, one usually gets a little tired. And yet, the people of San Rafael don’t let it limit them. Every day, they climb up and down the hill with speed and agility.

The people of San Rafael are an inspiration, examples of dedication and will. They show us how we can achieve what we set out to do and not lose heart.

    Hello Lesbia,
It was a pleasure meeting you and meeting some of the families that will be recipients of the new Constru Casa homes. I just stumbled upon your blog and was smiling because your post so eloquently describes my views of that day.
I too took that image and had a similar comment:
I hope to meet with you again down the road.
    Many thanks for your warmth!
