Common Hope held a training yesterday for the teachers of San Cristobal, one in a series of ten training sessions about reading pedagogy. This particular workshop focused on how to get students excited to read and how to structure reading in the classroom.
The trainings are a result of the operational planning teachers conducted last fall with Common Hope staff. The San Cristobal teachers decided they wanted to receive reading trainings throughout 2012. They and Common Hope planned one half-day training each month of the school year. Teachers arranged for their student-teachers to take over classes for the day so they don’t have to cancel the entire school day for students. All teachers from the school attend these trainings–a great way to spread the love of reading throughout our partner schools.
