Hospitality Coordinator

Position: Hospitality Coordinator (2 coordinators needed)
Location: Fundación Familias de Esperanza/Antigua
Department: Hospitality
Reports to: Hospitality manager
Conditions: Full-time, Volunteer

Description:

Common Hope organizes 10-day trips for groups of 12 people to discover Guatemala and Common Hope. These groups are called Vision Teams and they split their time between our Antigua site and our New Hope site. During the team’s stay a Vision Team Coordinator is responsible for listening, sharing, encouraging, answering questions, facilitating communication with Guatemalans and making sure the teams physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met.

I.General Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission, vision, values, principles and goals of Common Hope and its two sites in Guatemala
  • Demonstrated attitude of service and/or commitment to work in a service environment and learn about Guatemalan culture
  • Willingness to share work experiences with donors, sponsors, Vision Teams and others to raise consciousness and fundraise
  • Ability to work effectively in both Spanish and English
  • Integrity, openness, and honesty
  • Direct communication skills
  • Ability to work on a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team

II. Specific requirements of the position

  • Manage both English and Spanish in spoken and written forms

  • Personable and high energy
  • Related experience helpful (i.e. camp counselors, resident assistants, service trip leaders, program coordinator)
  • Ability to maintain a hospitable environment and work in and encourage a team atmosphere with fellow hospitality staff, staff in other departments and staff at other sites
  • Willingness and ability to work some weekends and evenings
  • Minimum one year commitment
  • Driving experience preferable-(training specific to driving in Guatemala will be provided)

    III. Functions:

Work closely with the U.S. Vision Team staff, the Antigua Hospitality staff and the New Hope staff, and other agencies and organizations to plan and arrange the following for Vision Teams:

  • their schedule
  • work assignments
  • transportation
  • food
  • side trips
  • sponsorship visits
  • reflection activities
  • Give tours to individuals and groups of the Antigua site
  • Administrative support
  • Other responsibilities may be added according to the individual interests of the volunteer and needs of the organization
*Training will be provided once the volunteer arrives in Guatemala
