My name is Luis Rolando Escobar Zamora, and I'm 18 years old. I'm from a small town called San Pedro las Huertas. I graduated with an Industrial High School degree as a qualified electrition and microprocessor. I like to work a lot, especially with computers. I have a younger brother named Oswaldo. My mother is named Cristanto Zamora, and my father is Esteban Escobar, and they have helped me so much.

Voy a exponer mi tragedia.

I am going to talk about my tragedy. Two years ago, I had a problem. My father had an accident that had very grave consequences for my family. One day at work, my father was hit and badly injured by a semi truck. He was the bread-winner for the family. I did not want anything bad to happen to my father, so this was very difficult for me. When I arrived at the hospital, they told me that they had to amputate his leg to save his life. This moment felt like the end of the world for me and the end of my goals, because I was the oldest and had only two options. The first was to help my family, which meant that I could not continue studying. The second was to continue studying, which seemed impossible. After some time, and with the help of Common Hope and the wise advice of my profesors who told me to continue studying because Common Hope would support me more and help my family, I continued my education. My mother also supported me by working Monday to Sunday. My father also eventually returned to work, so that today I would complete my goal.

Common Hope helped me forge my dreams and realize my goals. I am in debt. All I am able to say to you is, “God bless you all.”

To return the favor, I have helped Profesor Francisco in tutoring classes in math and physics with other scholarship students who may have had difficulty understanding this material.

In the future, I want to be a successful man and pass on my wisdom and intellect to other young people who need assistance as I did. Thank you to these great professors that put me on the right path.
