Position: Internship – Youth Leadership Programs Coordinator
Location: Common Hope, La Antigua Guatemala

Organizational Summary: 

Common Hope promotes hope and opportunity in Guatemala, partnering with children, families and communities who want to participate in a process of development to improve their lives through education, health care and housing.

Requirements: 

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree candidate
  • Experience working with youth in formal or informal setting (camp counselor, tutor, student teaching)
  • Spanish fluency required
  • Work schedule flexibility, general schedule for position is Tuesday-Saturday
  • Previous experience living in Latin America preferred

Duties:

The Youth Leadership Programs Intern will work in the Youth Programs office at our Family Development Center with 5 colleagues. He or she will receive training for the position for 1-2 weeks and then will take over the implementation of the youth leadership program and girls leadership group for 6 weeks. Duties will include:

  • Planning the curriculum in advance with the current youth leadership program coordinator
  • Running the weekly meeting with girls leadership group (Friday) and youth leadership group (Saturday)
  • Supporting the other activities of the Youth Programs office (study club, sports, Saturday morning recreational activities)
  • Keeping notes on weekly meetings and participants to share at end of internship
