Position: Mathematics Coordinator – Youth Programs
Location: Familias de Esperanza / Antigua Guatemala
Department: Youth Programs
Reports to: Youth Programs Director
Conditions: Full time (Tuesday through Saturday), long-term volunteer with monthly stipend

General Requirements:

  • Willingness to share work experiences with donors, sponsors, teams and others to raise consciousness and fundraise
  • Ability to work effectively in both Spanish and English, with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Integrity, openness, and honesty

  • Ability to work on a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team

Specific Requirements:

  • University degree in mathematics or a mathematics-intensive field
  • Knowledge of contents in pre-algebra, algebra, calculus and trigonometry
  • Professional experience managing educational or extracurricular programming, preferably with youth ages 12-20
  • Strong intermediate level of Spanish language
  • Energy and enthusiasm to work with adolescents
  • Creativity and flexibility


  • Based on desired outcomes, design and manage a mathematics support program for affiliated students ages 12-20. Coordinate the mathematics program with the youth program staff, scholarship staff, and social workers.
  • Support the other Youth Programs (Study Club, Extracurricular clubs, Leadership Training, etc.)
  • Orient and supervise short-term volunteers who support the mathematics program.
