THANK YOU
FAITH LUTHERAN WACONIA

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church – we are thrilled that your congregation has chosen to partner with Common Hope as we bring hope and opportunity to students in Guatemala.

The students in this gallery are from the communities of Antigua and San Miguel Milpas Altas. Antigua is a bustling tourist destination rich in culture and famous for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture. It is also where Common Hope’s Family Development Center is located. San Miguel Milpas Altas is a smaller village 20 minutes outside of Antigua. The village is home to approximately 1,600 people, many of whom work as day laborers in the areas of gardening, farming, and furniture making.

As a sponsor, you will financially support a child’s education. But more than that, you’ll be establishing a relationship with a student who needs extra encouragement. Many times, a sponsor’s words are the difference between staying in school and dropping out. Your sponsorship makes a real difference in their life!

To sponsor a student, select one of the children featured below then click to fill out the sponsorship form. Indicate on the form whether you want to serve as sole sponsor at $65 per month or share the sponsorship with another at $35 per month. If you want to learn more, feel free to contact us at sponsorship@commonhope.org or call (651) 917-1045. We will guide you through this amazing and rewarding journey. Thank you for your commitment to children and families in need.

Angela

My mom is strong role model for me as she raises my two brothers and myself on her own, while also running her own business of selling chile rellenos from our home. I hope to make her proud as I work towards high school graduation and more opportunities for my future. I am 8th grade this year.

Jose Denilson

I’m in 5th grade. I enjoy math class, singing and playing soccer at recess. My dream for when I grow up is to become a firefighter. Both of my parents have less than a 6th grade education and their hope is that my brothers and I graduate from high school.

Pablo

I love going to school and solving addition problems and studying geography. When I grow up I want to be a firefighter, builder, scientist, or doctor. I want to study hard in order to help my family more in the future so that they can have a safe place to live.

Keny

Even though my dad suffers with pain in his back, he continues to work as a carpenter. At 11 years old, I know that one day I would like to follow in his footsteps and become a carpenter, too. But first I need to graduate from high school. I am studying in 5th grade.

Fátima

I am the middle child and only girl in a family of 5 kids. At my house we have a garden where we grow black beans and corn. My dad works as a mason and my mom washes clothes. I am excited to be in 2nd grade. My parents tell me how important school is so I can have a better future.

Selvin

I absolutely love to read! Even though I haven’t quite mastered reading yet, books fascinate me. I like to play card games, soccer and volleyball with my family. I can’t wait to have a sponsor because that means someone is interested in my studies.

Did you know?

Right now there are more than 700 students waiting for a sponsor. While these students still receive all the benefits of Common Hope programs, having a sponsor gives them an extra vote of confidence.

Ready to take the next step toward changing a life forever?
