Do Good. Gift Hope.
Common Hope is on a mission to ensure that every child knows they are worthy and valued, regardless of socioeconomic status or culture. The Gift Hope Project reinforces the core belief that every child is special and has potential for greatness!
The Gift Hope Project sends birthday cards and birthday gifts to more than 3,000 kids experiencing poverty in Guatemala. Do you like to get gifts? Better yet, do you like to give gifts? If you answered, “yes” then you need to volunteer with us!

Your Gifts (and messages) of Hope will:
- Provide a fun opportunity for a child in poverty to experience a new gift and celebrate their special day.
- Continue to promote and foster education and educational resources for children experiencing poverty.
- Support and encourage an ongoing commitment to education and celebrate staying in school.
The Volunteer Experience
Each volunteer experience includes hands-on volunteering along with opportunities for learning and reflection. Build cultural awareness that lasts beyond the two-hour experience by stepping into the shoes of a child living in poverty. A gift becomes more than a gift when wrapped with intention and understanding!
Volunteer experiences last 2-4 hours. You will come to Common Hope’s St. Paul office where you will assemble birthday cards and gifts – one fun gift and one educational gift. Your two hours will create countless smiles, memories, and an immeasurable number of feelings of support.
There are two volunteer options available at this time:
Pick Gifts from our Toy Chests
Common Hope can supply everything you need! Simply show up and pick gifts from our toy chests to wrap for students.
Host a Gift Drive
Host a gift drive prior to your volunteer experience then bring your gifts to Common Hope to wrap. We supply a list of recommended gifts.
