Louise Iverson, Chicago-based Common Hope supporter, former long-term volunteer in Guatemala, and Community Outreach Team member, has challenged herself to run 35 miles in 4 races to fundraise for Common Hope. Louise has recently launched “Team Common Hope,” a new way for runners, walkers and triathletes of all ages to get the word out about Common Hope, raise funds for Common Hope’s programs, and participate in healthy activities that they enjoy doing.

On August 22nd, Louise ran in the Madison Mini Marathon, her first of four races she’s running for Team Common Hope in the Midwest. To date, she has already raised $250 and she’s confident that she will reach her goal of running 35 miles and raising $1,000 before the season is over. Louise has set up a fundraising page called “Team Common Hope: Running for Hope in 2015,” and so far, she has had good luck promoting it on social media, receiving a generous response from friends and family. “It’s amazing to see how willing people are to give, and how they encouraging they are” she says. The fundraising page offers a platform for many individuals to fundraise together, she noted – so new team members can simply join the Team Common Hope fundraising page in order to get started.

Louise got the idea of running for Common Hope when she saw others run in the name of non-profits at races. She says that the positive energy that surrounds runners who support a cause or a non-profit is contagious, and that it is something that brings people together.

“I often see these running teams who are so full of energy, enthusiasm, and passion, and Common Hope supporters are the most passionate advocates I know,” she said. “A running team is such a great way for Common Hope supporters across the country to channel this passion into action!”

Louise encourages other race-enthusiasts to join “Team Common Hope,” and says that it’s a great opportunity for anyone. “This is something for everyone. You can run in honor of your sponsored child, run for education in Guatemala, or for anything that is most meaningful to you.” She hopes to see “Team Common Hope” become an official charity partner of prominent marathons and other races as the network of Team Common Hope members grows. “But do that, we’ll need more runners to join us!” she says. “Whether this is your first fun run or your 10th marathon, I would love to have all kinds of Common Hope supporters join me in running for Team Common Hope this season, and in years to come.”

Louise and other team members will be running for Team Common Hope in these upcoming races:

-September 17: St. Michael Oktoberfest 5K in Chicago, IL
-October 4: Medtronic TC 10 Mile in Minneapolis, MN
-November 8: Hot Chocolate 15K in Chicago, IL
