Earlier this summer, Common Hope’s Youth Club coordinated their fifth annual 5K marathon for students to promote health and FUN. It was a great day with 79 runners competing and over 150 total people who participated. The runners were between 12 and 22 years old. Three members of the Águilas de Esperanza Vision Team Junior also participated in the race!

The race started at the Family Development Center in Antigua and led the runners to San Pedro das las Huertos up to San Miguel Escobar. From there they turned around and made their way back to Common Hope’s Development Center. All along the route people cheered on the runners and handed out water.

Ten winners were nominated in three different categories; (Ladies, Men, and Relatives/Friends of Students). The first runner across the finish line completed the race in just 24 minutes! He was awarded the grand prize — a new TV.

Common Hope is already looking forward to the race next year! Thanks to everyone for participating in this event.
