    Purpose 

    The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for implementing one-to-one relational fundraising strategies for a portfolio of up to 75 qualified individual donors while managing a team of three individual gift officers. You’ll be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift donors, as well as identifying and qualifying new prospects. An ability to navigate successful one-to-one relational fundraising while centering the community served and staying grounded in Organization’s values is key.  

    Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Individual Giving Manager will forge strong collaborative ties with both the development and communications teams. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in managing individual giving programs within the nonprofit sector, coupled with a passion for advancing our organization's mission through strategic and values-aligned fundraising initiatives. 

     

    Job Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities 

    • Manage a portfolio of up to 75 major donors, build relationships, make asks, and develop content for major donor communications. 

    • Collaborate with Director of Development to build individual and major giving programs. 

    • Manage and coach a team of three individual gift officers (major, mid-level and annual fund) to build a pipeline of individual donors. 

    • Work with leadership to develop annual major gifts plans, research prospective donors and donor networks, and make recommendations on strategies for deepening engagement. 

    • Oversee communications with individual donors including gift acknowledgements, donation requests, and special materials such as concept notes and donor-facing web pages that contribute to the political and giving growth of donors.  

    • Coordinate with leadership team on reporting, donation processing, and budget input. 

    • Foster inclusive fundraising spaces that center our communities. 

    • Maintain up to date portfolio records in partnership with the Development Operations Specialist and Special Projects Manager. 

    • Provide fundraising reports, projections, and analysis for the executive management team, board, development committee, and other staff. 

     

     

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

    Below are our preferred experiences and qualifications for the Individual Giving Manager role. We recognize people build skills in a variety of ways and combinations and believe that many skills are transferrable to a variety of contexts. If your background does not precisely match these experiences and qualifications, but you have a passion for our work, we would love to hear from you.  

     

    • Commitment to Organization’s purpose, promise, and values as described above.  

    • Minimum two years’ experience in individual giving for a nonprofit organization.  

    • Proven track record securing five-figure gifts. 

    • Experience managing people preferred.  

    • Ability to manage one’s own schedule; highly organized/disciplined, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. 

    • Ability to prioritize and triage multiple objectives with deadlines. 

    • Familiarity with social justice and racial equity values and the ability to apply them in a fundraising context and navigate the inherent tensions. 

    • Proficiency in spoken and written English. 

    • Proven experience working cross-functionally in a collaborative, multi-cultural team environment. 

    • Good relationship-building skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with all levels of Board members, community leaders/members, staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors. 

    • High level of computer literacy including online databases, spreadsheets, and basic design skills. Experience in Raiser’s Edge NXT is a helpful additional skill set, but not required.  

    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) and Zoom. 

    • Develop and execute donor communications strategies.
