The Rosales Family STANDS for Education

Last fall in Guatemala, the Hernandez Rosales family celebrated their firstborn, Víctor's graduation from University. He was awarded his degree in Agricultural Engineering, and the family reflected on how he got to where he is today, thanks to the support of Common Hope | Familias de Esperanza. Today, we would like to share their story!

Victor's father, Pedro, owns a small farm along with his wife and has worked tirelessly to advance his family's economic situation for years. They have 4 children who have been given scholarships through Common Hope: two have already completed their college degrees, one is in high school, and the youngest is finishing up elementary school.

During the one year his eldest son attended school without Common Hope's support, it was challenging for the family to pay for school supplies and essential needs, and the efforts to sustain his son's education were becoming increasingly difficult, weighing on the parents. They worked on and off the farm to sell a wide variety of goods, but this furthered their concern, as it was hard for them to see that they still could not support all their family's needs.

But then something changed: they were accepted into Common Hope. Pedro explained that from that moment on, the support Common Hope gave to his family was fundamental for his children to reach their academic goals. Especially because he himself only studied until the 4th grade in 1983, and after that, he hasn't been able to go back.

The results of Common Hope's support are clear and can be seen in his oldest two children, who were the first to get scholarships and now have college degrees: Víctor in Agricultural Engineering, who is now using his knowledge to support his family's business, and Jhon Alam, who obtained his degree in Automotive Mechanics and plans on opening his own mechanic shop. Their hard work and academic achievements are now helping improve living conditions for the entire family!

Pedro hopes that with Common Hope's support, all of his children will accomplish their academic goals and contribute to improving their community. To all the people who have supported Common Hope, he says, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every person who gives support so that children and youth have better opportunities. May God bless you wherever you are and multiply all that you contribute for children's education, and may He recognize the positive impact that your help has in the lives of so many families."

When we STAND together, we create a community of people who believe that education changes everything! The Hernandez Rosales family's hard work toward their own graduations is possible because people like you chose to STAND with them. Students in Guatemala are working hard for their future. Will you STAND with them? Support our STAND movement here!

I'm curious how do you think fnaf 2 their commitment to education impacts their community in the long run? It seems like a powerful ripple effect could occur.
