School Partners show the love this February in Northwestern Minnesota

A snowy trip and warm reception from our Partners in Fargo/Moorhead

On February 25, Teresa, Common Hope’s Outreach & Partnership Manager, made her way to Ellen Hopkins Elementary in Moorhead, one of our School Community Partners. There, she hosted cultural activities for the 3rd grade classrooms. These activities focused on increasing the students’ global understanding by focusing on the life of Felix, a 3rd grader in Guatemala. The students then participated by drawing photos and answering questions about similarities and differences between their own lives and Felix’s life.

“Facilitating these interactive cultural activities in the classroom is one of my favorite parts of my job at Common Hope. Seeing the students engaged and interested to learn more about kids like them in Guatemala is exactly why we started the School Community Partner Program. Students leave with a deeper understanding of poverty and a broadened global perspective, which we hope they will continue to foster as they get older,” says Teresa.

Thank you to Diana Cobbs and the administration at Ellen Hopkins Elementary for giving students the opportunity to serve, learn, and grow!
