Dear Common Hope Community,
As you may already be aware, Guatemala is grappling with significant challenges due to widespread unrest following its recent presidential election, resulting in protests and blockades around the country.
Common Hope is closely monitoring the situation and resulting issues with transportation, access to goods, and disruption of services. We have profound hope for a peaceful and safe resolution as the situation remains tenuous. In these challenging times, our commitment to our mission remains unwavering. We continue to support our families, even in the face of disruptions from the civil unrest, keeping the safety of our team and the families we serve at the center of our focus.
We compassionately stand united in supporting our colleagues in Guatemala. We hope for a just outcome and for democracy to prevail, and for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. As an organization, we are in support of anything that leads to the betterment of Guatemalan students, their families, and the community at large.
One of the best ways we can support families and our team in Guatemala is to stay up to date with current events. We will strive to communicate matters that pertain to our organization’s operations, considering that the state of the political climate informs how we make decisions, approach communications, and tell the story of Common Hope.
Together, we look forward to a brighter and more equitable Guatemala.
